Hi there! I know it has been a long time since I posted but here I am! Sad to say without pictures!
Anyway, I am going to be a great Aunt again! I can't tell you how excited we all are about that! My niece is in the hospital as I post this! We will be having a boy, his name will be Dade Eli! Da is the first 2 letters of his dad's name and de is the first 2 letters of his mom's and big sister's name! Can't wait to hold him!

As I'm sure everyone know's this is Super Bowl Sunday! YAY! It is really exciting to have it played right here in Indiana, though it would have been more exciting had it been the Colts playing, but we can't have everything, right? Go GIANTS!!!!!!!

I have been organizing and re-organizing and happy to say I should be able to make my way to the sewing machine this weekend. I can't tell you how excited I am about that. I have things lined up to get done!

I have also been on Pinterest! Have you been there? Love it! What else can I say about that site! It's fabulous!

Winter here has been awful. I am so sad that it has been so warm and hardly no snow. Boo hoo....
None in the forecast either. It's to hit 58 today and 40's all next week. What is up with that?! We will be mowing and planting the garden in March at this rate!!!

I've alot to get done before tonight so I will be back, hopefully sooner than later!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa arrived at my house yesterday! I was so excited! I received 2 boxes! I will post about the other tomorrow! Anyway, my SSS came in this box taped together with very cheery tape!

OMG! I was so excited! I couldn't wait to open it! Anyway,

I finally got it open! Isn't that the sweetest gift tag?! Look at those presents under there!

Isn't that the cutest box ever!!!

There were penguin socks, my favorite! Paper strips to make a paper garland! An owl tablet! You know I adore owls, don't you? I love fabric and look, 8 fat quarters! I already know what I am going to make with 3 of them! There's that sweet box again!

Well, look what was in that box!!! Homemade peppermint bark! I love it! Peppermint is my

favorite!!!

And don't you just love the homemade Christmas ornament?!!! I do! It's wonderful!

Thank you so much to my SS Santa! You were so thoughtful with all of my gifts!

Your box seriously brightened my day!

When to stay home!

You might want to stay home when it snows so you can play in it!

You might want to stay home when a mouse(yes a mouse is in the house for the first time in 11

years) jumps out of a drawer and you are screaming so bad that you have scared the cats til they won't come into the house!

Or you could stay in the house because yesterday was December 13! Whatever the reason, I should have stayed home yesterday!

Our first stop was the library! I know what you're thinking, that shouldn't be tooo bad. Well, it was!

All Lilli wanted to do was take a book back and pick one up that she had ordered! They bring up her account and it says she owes $10.00! I said no way. The girl, which by the way, is so unfriendly that it makes me ill when she has to wait on us. By the look on her face I was sure she wanted me to have to pay the fine! If that wasn't bad enough, she opened my account, what for I'm not sure because I didn't want a book and wasn't bringing one back. She said I owed $40.00. I said now that's just crazy I am up here more than you are! I am, too! Thankfully, the girl that waited on us 3 days ago said that she knew we didn't owe the fines and to take them off! Thank goodness! All and all it took us 10 minutes to check out a book that normally would have taken 2!!! Not persuaded to go home, I went on my merry way! My next stop should have been to get eggs but no I went to our wonderful Wal-Mart(not)instead! We pay for our stuff and got almost home and forgot our bag of ice that we paid for!! So I stop to make sure I can find my receipt and I did. Getting the ice was a cinch! Thank goodness! Now we had driven past the egg store 3 times and drove by one more time! I guess for good measure! The number 4 must have been my lucky number! Finally, I got my eggs! I still had to go get mouse traps....ugh. On the way to get mouse traps, I told Lilli that I was definitely go to get take out! It would have been 7:30 or 8:00 and that was tooo late for supper!

The stop for mouse traps went without a hitch! So we stop at McDonald's and would you know we didn't get our whole order. We didn't leave the parking lot but we had driven away from the pick-up window without a receipt. Our McDonald's quit giving receipts unless you ask for one and when you do they act like it's a sin! I asked for the rest of my order anyway and I thought they were gonna call the police. They gave my fries! Feeling like criminals we finally arrived home safe and sound with all our things!

Believe me when it is the 13th,or it snows, or a mouse jumps from a drawer I am staying home!

Oh my gosh! I'm not sure what happened with these pictures and wouldn't you know Lilli is not here to help me! So here goes my post anyway!

See those magazines over there? I couldn't help myself! Everytime I found one I liked I would say well it is my birthday! So I ended up with 4! I know I should have watched what I was doing but I couldn't help myself! I found something I absolutely have to make in each one! Now all I have to do is find the time to make them! The Debbie Macomber books were gifts from John and the girls! The 4 cookbooks are from my mother-in-law! Lilli also loves to bake so she has already used the Loveless Cafe book! The chocolate peanut brownies are wonderful!

The snowman mug, plate, night lite, and sparkly Christmas tree are all from my very best friend ever for my birthday! She brought me my favorite pizza, breadsticks, cheesecake, angel food cake, cupcakes, and pecan ice cream for my birthday supper! She is truly the best friend a girl could ask for!

The weekend before my birthday was family time! My brother and his family came along with our parents and we celebrated both of our days! The weekend after was in-law day! We had a very nice supper with them!

All in all my birthday was wonderful! What more could I ask for 3 days to celebrate me! Yipee!

Company and Shopping

Last Friday my Aunt Barb(the one that made the snowman quilt who lives in Florida), my Mom, Lilli, and I went shopping! Yay for us! Anyway, we went to the Warm Glow Candle Outlet in Centerville, IN first! You know how I love that place! I have posted about it before! I bought some Christmas things and fall things! It is truly one of my favorite shops!!!

Then we went to the quilt shop! The Stitching Nook that used to be in Liberty, IN had moved to Richmond, IN! How great is that! I am only 25 miles from Richmond and about 55 or 60 from Liberty. Much better! The sad news is that the Stitching Nook has been in Ricmond for 7 years! Oh really, I said, John said he was happy I didn't know before now! haha I said to the lady the last time I had been to Liberty was in '04 and she said you must have been there right before we moved. I was thinking they could have told me they were moving, right?!! While we were there I picked up a few things!

Do you see the Harvest Town panel and yardage of pumpkins? I won that in a giveaway last fall! It's a red rooster fabric line!

I, of course, hadn't used it so I bought some more fabric to go with it!!

One of my favorite designers is Nancy Halvorsen!

She has the sweetest books and fabric! I already had the Christmas book, Jingle All the Way and couldn't hardly wait to get my hands on the fabric! So I had to buy the panel and some fat quarters!

As if all of the above wasn't enough I found this! That's right Winterberry Lane by red rooster!

I took the panel bolt off the shelve and there was only 2 panels left so of course I couldn't let them run out without buying it! Then I got some yardage and some fat quarters! I just love the muted tones! On their website they call them dusty!

Lilli found a tub full of fat quarters for $1 so I got two and she got some!

As we were standing at the cutting counter they had these little rulers from Creative Grids.They were only $4.00 and they had Stitching Nook on it and a pattern sheet to go with it so I had to buy them! As I am learning to quilt I should have the best of everything, right? What I have been learning from the wantobe quilters campaign the Creative Grids rulers are the best you can buy!

Do you see those little angel scissors? Lilli bought them for me! I love them! You can buy them on line over at Sharon's!

That was our big day out! We came home and had our favorite take out pizza and lots of great conversation with our company!

I GOT MAIL!!

Yes! I got mail! Just look at the size of this box! I knew it was coming and just couldn't hardly wait to get it in the house and open it! I mean it's not everyday you get a box like this one!

This wonderful snowman quilt was inside!(sorry about the picture) I know I can't hardly believe it!

It is amazing, isn't it?! And it's mine! About 11 years ago Aunt Barb(she lives in Florida and I live in Indiana) asked me if I would be interested in doing a snowman quilt together! Of course, she knew it would be way one sided since I have never quilted, but I said yes, yes, yes!

Anyway, she did all of the cutting, the piecing of the log cabin squares, the tree squares and I only had to do the snowmen squares! She cut all of my snowmen out and ironed them on the squares and I was set!

To make a long story short, life got in the way, and it took us 11 years to finish it! She did a beautiful job! It is gorgeous! I love it! I will post better and more detailed pictures tomorrow! Thank you so much Aunt Barb from the bottom of my heart! I love it! It will be a family heirloom for sure!

Summer's Almost Over! YaY!

Yay summer is almost over! I am so excited that fall will be here soon!

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate summer, I just don't like it very much! Fall and winter are my most favorite seasons of all! Fall because my birthday is in October and winter because it snows!!!

Since the heat has finally cooled off(I say that and today it was 90 here)for the most part, anyway, we can finally start enjoying our patio! I love to sit out there first thing the morning with handwork or a book!

We have a really really old glider that was black and we spray painted it yellow! Love it! I made pillow covers out of some osnaburg fabric and some upholstery fabric that I have had for some time! On the middle cushion I even tried my hand at raw edge applique! Sorry the picture is not the best. It is so comfy, though!

This chair was Grandma Baker's old rocker from her enclosed porch years ago. It was white until this year and we painted it watermelon! Love it too! This chair has a cushion that is not very pretty anymore so I just made a pillowcase to cover it! I made a little pillow with raw edge applique on it! That raw edge applique is fun, I think!

Another indication summer is almost over, the flowers are looking old and sun damaged! The heat has been so intense that I have had to baby them along to get them this far! My dad and I even used tomato food on them! Did that ever help!

A sunflower to usher in fall! Yay!

Some Hand Made Goodness!

Here it is two weeks since my last post and I said I would do better! UGH...

Anyway, you know how I have been so excited about the wantobe quilter campaign, well I finally decided to try my hand at a few things!

You do know I am a little challenged when it comes to following the directions or rules! UGH...

It's so hard to follow them when you know your way is right, isn't? Anway, I have a new best friend...the seam ripper!

And then came these wonderful baskets! I have so much fun making them! I used up scraps from Sunkissed from Sweetwater and Canning Days from Connecting Threads! I am going to use these for gifts! A Basketfull of Love! They will have a mug rug, a mug, some goodies to eat and drink!

I am so sorry I didn't post this before, but I couldn't remember where I got the tutorial for the baskets until I read cuttopieces the other day! Thanks Angela! The tutorial comes from pinkpenguin! Thanks Ayumi! Sorry I forgot to post this!

Anyway, I just wanted share! I also have started a flickr account to put these handmade goodies on!

I am still here!!!!

I know it has been almost 2 months since my last post! I have excuses that are so-so!
1. I hate to post without pictures! My camera broke...ugh!
You can tell by the pictures in my last post! I have since bought a new one but haven't had the time to learn how to use it!!! I am sure Lilli will be able to show me!!!
2. We gutted Lilli's room and I do mean gutted it...what work especially in the awful heat! Heat indexes averaged 105-110 degrees all week! UGH!!!
Painted from the ceiling to the baseboard, tore out the carpet which we(Lilli and I) quickly learned how to take up tack strips and staples from the hardwood floor without damaging it! Then we learned how to revive the already gorgeous wood with lots more elbow grease! The room, if I do say so myself, turned out gorgeous!!!
Hoping for pictures soon! Where was John through all of this, you might be asking....working! Yes working in a factory with a horrible tempature of over 110 degrees. They have fans but that just moves the hot air around. On days he worked in the weld shop his protective gear made even that much hotter! There was no way I could ever ask him or my dad to help us!!! So when someone comes and they look at Lilli's room it makes it all that much nicer to say, we did it all by ourselves!!!
3. Gayle turned 30! Yes, I know, 30! Ugh...I still say she's my baby! When you look at Gayle she looks the same as the day she turned 18! I am so happy that through all her trials she has made this far and she is still so happy and always wants you to be happy and smiling!!!
4. And finally, today I had to turn Gayle's 2 year report in! Lots of typing and filing goes along with that!
So now as soon as Lilli turns 14 on August 29 and my aunt and uncle come for a visit, I am hoping that I will be able to post and actually have pictures!
So for now I am really enjoying everyone else's blogs! I have even followed a ton of new ones! So thanks to all of the bloggers out there for keeping me inspired and excited to get back to creating!
Before I forget, for those of you who have been reading me for sometime you know I have always wanted to learn to quilt, I have joined the wantabe quilter giveaway(button on my sidebar) over at Sew We Quilt! I can't tell you how fun it is and how much I am learning! Here's to hoping someday you will actually see a finished quilt on here!

Hi! I know it has been forever since I really posted! It has been an absolute crazy summer here!

Yesterday I posted a picture of some home made July 4th things! I made them for my sister-in-law's birthday!

She absolutely loved them all!

Here is the big picture, a picture at a time!!!

She is one of my originals! I make a bigger version of her, too! I love her!

I made Connie this mug rug! I found the mug at Kohl's! I wanted a July 4th mug but the were sold out!!!

Here is a patchwork basket I made from a tutorial over at pinkpenguin!

I switched out 12 of the square blocks for 6 long ones!

Here is a pillow made from a pattern over at Kalico Kreations!

They are so fun and fast! Love them!

Just for fun I threw in this chicken potholder!

I found the pattern for this in the 101 Patchwork Projects and Quilts!

I must say I had fun making this!

It's almost Easter!!!

Hi! I have been so far behind! And the fact that the days fly by just doesn't help!

Anyway, Easter is almost here and we are excited! Easter is like Christmas here! We decorate and bake!

We make most of the gifts! We have traditions like making baby powder bunny foot prints to each of the girls' rooms where there baskets are found! We have our usual Easter Egg Hunt! The fun thing about Easter is that no matter how old we are we can have so much fun with our traditions! I hope the weather is nice so we can fly kites and blow bubbles! Have you all seen those new colored bubbles by Crayola? Can't wait to use them! Yesterday I found the Bubble Launcher to go with them! I really don't know who is more excited me or the girls!!!

Here are a few eggs that I made! I am so glad I had some styrofoam eggs bought up because Hobby Lobby didn't have any and Joann's just had a few, which I bought! Anyway, I found the directions for these eggs on debbiemumm's website! They were so fun and easy to make!

I don't want anyone to faint but I made joined a BOM!!! I know I think I must be crazy, right?

Anyway, I finally got the nerve to cut my sunkissed by sweetwater and I have all twelve blocks sewn together!

Believe me that says alot for me! Just the fact that I could cut them was a miracle but to sew them together and have them turn out was even more of a miracle! My big deal now is to get the designs transferred onto the fabric! I think I have read up on this tooo much! But I think I am going to try the pen that has the ink that goes away when it is ironed! I would be interested to know how you transfer your designs!

I think I first printed these off 2 years ago and decided this was the year! I made a batch of eight but forgot to take a picture! Everytime someone stopped by one of these ducks would leave with them! When I finally took a picture I only had these 3 left! Thank goodness just enough for my very best friend and my 2 girlie girls! Anyway, they are fast and fun! You should try them!!!

Hi there, it's me! I know it has been awhile! It's been a crazy February!

We passed around the stomach flu for 3 weeks. UGH... Not fun at all.

However, I think we are all on the mend!

Not only was February Valentine's Day, by the way, Happy Belated Valentine's Day, it was John's birthday!

We just celebrated it this last Sunday! His real day is the 8th but with all the sickness going around we just couldn't do it! Better late than never! Right?!!! It's always fun to get with the family for a celebration!

Don't forget to go to caraquilts for her charity! You still have until March 7!!!

Okay on to the goodies!

Instead of the peanut butter kiss cookies we did the sugar kiss cookies! They are yummy!

A good way to celebrate Valentine's Day!

Though we have been sick we went shopping on-line, of course! We couldn't go shopping in person in our jammies, could we?! Well, we could but we wouldn't dare!!! Lilli has fallen in love with this bag pattern! It is in my pile to make!

I'm not sure how this picture got here in the middle of my purchases, but this is my very first mug rug! I gave it to my Mom for Christmas!

I made my very best friend one just like it for Christmas! They are so fun to make!!!

Oh look, it's my very favorite fabric line for now!!! SUNKISSED by sweetwater!!! Do you love it?

Some of these fabrics were bought in January before we got sick!!! But the top piece is from Shabby Fabrics! I made prayer scarves for my vbf and her Mom and daughter, when her grandma passed. However, I forgot to take pictures. I have one more to make for another friend's sister, who has not been feeling well. If I can remember, I will take a picture! Oh, by the way, the prayer scarf idea was shared with us all by sewnwithgrace!

Even more fabrics! Yes, even some Christmas fabrics!!!

Hi there! I know I haven't been here for a while! Not because I didn't want to be or that I am lazy! I was just super busy!!! Yes, I finally finished my winter cleaning! Fun it wasn't but at least it's finished until spring!!! YAY!!!

After I downloaded all of my pictures, I realized I had enough for at least 3 posts! So I will just share a few things I have managed to finish this month and a picture of my new nephew! Yes I said nephew not great nephew!!LOL!

This is a table runner I made for my friend Heidi! You can't really see them, but I quilted some stars in the gold! She has just started collecting stars!

This is a snowman on a bedspring! Isn't he adorable! I used the end of a really old tie for his tie and band around his felt hat! He started as a styrofoam ball then I covered him with papier mache! Painted him white, painted his nose orange and his eyes and mouth black! I named him Springy!! Original, huh?!! I have nine more ready to make!

Since Heidi loves stars and snowmen what could be better than a star snowman! I cut him out of stryofoam with my really old scroll saw(you wouldn't want to use a new one for stryofoam!) Then I covered him with papier mache! His name, of course, is Starry! Another super orignal name, I know! He has a purple scarf because that is Heidi's favorite color!

Here he is!! It's MAX! My brother and sister-in-law have a new dog! They rescued him from the pound! Is he like the sweetest thing ever?! He doesn't bark, make messes, or chew things up! He is the happiest little dog ever! Did I mention he loves his Aunt Vickie?!!! He does!!!

That's it for me today! I will be back hopefully sooner than later!! However, we are bracing, along with most of the country, for a huge winter storm. We here in east central Indiana are looking to get the ice then the snow! Oh why can't we have just snow?!! I would take snow over ice any day!

Getting back to normal!!!

Here it is January 10 and we have just been having too much fun doing things we wanted to do during Christmas! You know it takes so long to get ready and there are so many extra things to do and places to go that it seems you don't really get to do the fun things you want to do with those you live with! So we have been watching our favorite movies, reading Christmas books, and eating the cookies and desserts that didn't get baked before Christmas!

Today, though, we are going to be getting back to some kind of routine! WooHoo! YaY!

It is so hard to be in a routine with the holidays, don't ya think?!

It seems that my sewing room is just tooo cluttered to step foot in so that has to be cleaned up and organized! The house in general needs cleaned up and we have got to get back to school! Of course, the laundry has to be done, and I need to cook up some meals so I can put some in the freezer! I love to have food ahead, don't you?!!! Well that's my day for ya!

Before I go, I want to show you a few gifts that I was able to get done for Christmas!

Here is Lilli with the Buttercup Bag from madebyrae! Have you been there? You should go if you haven't Rae has some really neat stuff! Don't you love the circle fabric! I just loved it!

Now for those of you who read this blog you know how I hate to have my picture on here, but everybody thought that I had to post a picture of me with the doll I made my great niece because they thought the doll looked just like me! How funny is that? What do you think?! Anyway, I had so much fun making her! Now I want one! She is in her nightgown and bloomers but she has a whole wardrobe that she can change into!!! Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle, a book by Tone Finnanger! Do you have that book? I just love it!

This is my ever so sweet great niece with her dolly! I'm told she sleeps with her! I am so excited about that!

Well, it's a few days past Christmas and things aren't so crazy busy here! We really had a great Christmas and hope you all did as well!

My big deal now is to put it all away. UGH...my least favorite thing to do!

My one and only consolation is that I leave up my snowman stuff! YAY!!

Christmas has been a little different last year and this year for a couple of reasons!

One, we don't have a believer anymore. It's our second year without. I know, isn't it sad?! I have talked to several people and

some say they were simply devastated when they learned their children no longer believed in Santa. I can't say I was devastated just a little sad. I knew the day would come but I didn't know that it would make Christmas so different! Oh well, our children do grow up!

The other reason was that John's dad isn't well enough to come to our house anymore especially when the weather is bad. So I fixed this...

Chicken Pot Pie and John took the food and gifts and spent part of the day with them!

We all missed them and they missed coming. We hope by Easter the weather will be better and they will be able to come and help us celebrate!!!

No Bake cookies! They are so simple and so yummy!!!

We did indeed have a white Christmas! It even snowed on

It never seems like Christmas until we make cinnamon rolls!

Well, today I broke down and made some! Yummmmm!!! The house was so warm and cozy with cinnamon oozing through every nook and cranny!! It simply smelled like Christmas!

Then Lilli said lets try to make chocolate chip rolls! I said I tried them once years ago with white icing and they were okay! This time I changed the sugar to brown and the icing to chocolate as you can see!!!!

It's Tuesday!

Well, it's Tuesday! Yesterday was so busy that I couldn't even post about it!

Anyway, I had therapy on my knee and I was doing so well they dismissed me a whole week early! YAY! I go see the orthopedic surgeon a week from Wednesday and am hoping I don't have to have surgery! At this point, I don't think I have to!

Right after therapy I had to take Lilli to the dentist in Muncie!

She always does so good!

I wish I was more like her!

In the mean time, I came down with a sinus migraine that I thought was going to do me in for the rest of the day! UGH....However, I came home and went right to sleep and slept a couple hours and was much better!

So today is catch up day here at home! I have to make a list of things that have to be made for Christmas and a list of the stuff I have to buy to make the things for Christmas! I know I have about a dozen ornaments to make! I have to organize my sewing room! Do laundry and fix supper! I hope I have time to sit and watch a little TV and do some handwork!

We will see!

Alot of you may or may not know there used to be a fabric store named So-Fro Fabrics in Muncie, IN. I used to work there! Loved it! It closed. There maybe more around the country I don't know? Do you?! Anyway, while I was there I learned alot about sewing and crafting and on a occasion we would even have a trunk show!

While I worked there I bought up a bunch of fabric and about 19 or 20 years ago I made this Santa with fabric that I had bought at the store! Maybe I bought the book there too! I can't remember! Isn't he adorable?!!!

What a Day!!!

The day has come and went!

It is amazing how a week of work boils down to a 2 hour party!

Anyway, it was so fun! There is nothing like celebrating a huge milestone with all your family and friends! My niece even came home early from her vacation!

John's parents were able to come! His dad has been sick off and on since April.

We were thankful that he could be here!

There was lots of sweets along with peppermint punch!

I just wanted to share a few pictures with you since most of my posts lately have had no picture!

This tree belonged to my grandparents and some of the ornaments are from Granny and Grandpa and a few are from my neighbor man!

It means so much to me to have something like this since they are both passed!

A Foodie Post!!!

In the mist of all this busy busy stuff, we have had time to cook and bake a little!

Starting with dessert first......

Lilli made this pumpkin pie that didn't last a day!!!

We love it!

I made chicken enchiladas one day!

Yummy! I found the recipe on peanutblossom!

They were great! However, I didn't follow the directions!

Which is no big surprise, but they still turned out wonderful!

My Aunt Barb sent me a lasagna pan! When I decided to try it out I was in the grocery store and didn't have the recipe so I found it on the back of the Barilla box! It was so good!

She's sew cute! Aunt Barb is always giving us gifts that fit us! She is so thoughtful that way!

We are always surprised and thankful for everything especially her love!

My Aunt Barb made this sock monkey quilt for my Mom(she makes sock monkeys)! Isn't it just adorable?!

She gave Mom, Precious, perched above the quilt in her pink hood! That is the sweetest thing ever!

Shopping....

I had to go shopping today to buy me a new sweater for Sunday!
You know we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary! What to wear....what to wear!
So I decided on my brown crush velvet pants and a new sweater, if I could found one I liked! Ugh...
Anyway, after trying on several things I found one! YAY! Now all I have to do is try it on with my pants! I hope it looks as good as I think it will! I really don't want to have to go shopping for me again this week! Shopping for others, or fabric, or books or magazines is way so much more fun!!

Some Snow Stuff!!!!

I thought I would take a break from my decorating and show you some snow stuff!!!

This is a shelf cover made by my very talented Aunt Barb!(keep an eye out for my Aunt Barb post!) It's snow cute! Don't you think?!

This is a snowman I made in 2006! I cut him from styrofoam(I actually used a scroll saw) and then covered him with papier mache! I painted him a stone color and made his nose from clay! Then I gave him some snow with some spray paint after I put him in a log! That way his stick and log both look snow covered!
When Lilli was born I wanted us all to have a stocking that was the same! Isn't this flannel from Debbie Mumm the best! It's snow cozy!

Today.....Our Christmas Season Begins!

Today was big decision making day!
Not only are we celebrating Thanksgiving this month, but John and I will be married 30 years on November 22, and then we have Christmas to get ready for!
So we decided to decorate for Christmas now, get the carpets cleaned then celebrate our anniversary and Thanksgiving! It was so hard to make these decisions because I have never put up Christmas before we celebrated Thanksgiving! I guess there is a first time for everything! I hope all goes well!
I should tell ya why I had to make all these decisions.....I have a torn meniscus. Can I just say I have never had anything hurt so bad in my life! I have been dealing with this situation since June. I finally had to break down and go to the doctor in September. I had all the usual tests and then went to the orthopedic surgeon and he said he didn't normally recommend therapy to very many but since I wasn't having the mechanical problems like my knee slipping or locking up then it was worth a shot! Then there is my home situation getting on the floor with Gayle, picking her up and carrying her so I was thrilled to start therapy! This past Tuesday my therapist couldn't believe how well I was doing and I might not have to go til December 1!!!
So I am hoping and praying that I don't have to have surgery but only time will tell!
This is my reason for our Christmas Season starting on November 12!!!

Did you know it's Forget Me Not Day today?! I didn't until I read it somewhere then googled it! What a fun day to call all your family and friends to say you love them!

I haven't heard officially that we are having an Indian Summer, but that would be my guess!

It's almost been hot out! We have had our first frost already and even a few snow showers!

And today it's gorgeous! Actually everyday this week has been great! I hung laundry out yesterday and today! That's one of my most favorite things to do!

A Log Cabin Quilt As You Go!

I hope ya all don't fall off your chairs but I wanted to share with you a project I started 25 years ago! I know, I couldn't believe it! I have had this tucked away in Gayle's room since we moved 12.5 years ago!

I was cleaning out her closet, much like I do every 6 months or so, and ran across this huge bag and instantly knew what it was! I started pulling all the fabric out and the directions fell out! I knew right then and there I had to finish this! When I got everything sorted I had 5 finished blocks and I need 15! So I got busy that day and was able to get 4 more completed and I have a fifth one started! I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to finish this really soon!

My mother-in-law and I took a class 25 years ago to learn how to do this! Something happened and we couldn't continue the classes so she helped me get all my pieces cut out at home and from there I was on my own! I don't know why I stopped with only 5 blocks finished but they will be finished this time for sure! I am hoping before the year is up!!! This is for Gayle and I want to surprise my mil when I show her the finished quilt! She doesn't even know that I have started working on it again!

Somehow I ended up at Angela's also this morning and found out that her A CRAFT HOLIDAY BLOG HOP started on November 1 and runs through December 16! Everyday some very talented crafter will have a list of handmade goodies! How fun?!

Of course, there is the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays over at sewmamasew! It started November 1 and ends November 30! They always have the best tutorials!

This is National Blog Post Month! I am so excited! I have always wanted to do this but I always forget! Thanks to mamasparks' post today, I am going to do it! It should be fun! I already posted yesterday so I am on a roll!

For today I wanted to share with you my hexagons! Sometime ago I read a post somewhere that talked about a hexagon tutorial on craftstylish! And as you all probably know I am teaching myself to quilt! So whenever I see something that I haven't tried then I have to try it!

I was a little leary but after I got started with these they were so easy! I made this candlemat for my sister-in-law! These are her favorite colors!

My 10 Minute Block!!!

Brenda had this on her blog last night so I had to try it!

Can I say how fun and easy this is! This is my first block and I used fabric that I had to cut in 10 inch squares! Of course, I don't have enough to make a quilt! I am thinking about a large pillow!! Brenda also says that she has tried the charm packs! I am going to practice with the large squares some more then I will try the small ones! Can't wait!

What a Week...My Birthday and the giveaway winnings arrive!!!

Wednesday was my birthday and my friends and family were great!

I received flowers from my best friend ever! She not only sent flowers but her and her daughter brought me pizza, brownies and a wonderful cherry chip dip! She even brought all the plastic ware, paper stuff, and a big bag of gifts! That was wonderful!

My other best friend sent me more flowers with a balloon tied to a bag of goodies!
Here's all my stuff!

The package from Brenda arrived yesterday with
these wonderful fuzzy socks that I had to put on right away so they didn't get in the picture with everything else! There was no way I was going to take them off!

The socks came with three gorgeous fabrics, wonderful lip gloss and 3 quilting patterns!

Today my package from Bren!

I got a fall panel with yardage pumpkin fabric! I have wanted that panel for sometime!

The pumpkin fabric is just perfect for the panel! Her daughter made the dish cloth!

It matches my kitchen to a tee!!! I have the perfect place for it!

Her son picked out the apple and sprayed it with cinnamon! Just right for fall!

And then to include my girls she sent them both a package of fun bands!

A PEPPERMINT EXPLOSION!!!!!

Does anyone out there like PEPPERMINT?!!!!

We love it! When we found these at JoAnn's( I know of all places, right?)!

We had to have them! The smell alone is out of this world, but then when you pop one of these in your mouth, it like explodes with peppermint, goey soft marshmallow covered with pink sugar! It is wonderful! Then we started thinking of all of the things you could do with these!

Dip them in chocolate, any kind of chocolate! Pop them in hot chocolate! And for an even more peppermint taste dip them in peppermint chocolate! YUMMM!!!

Baking Day!!!

OMG! This is the best kind of day ever!!!! Baking, baking, and more baking!

The house smells like Christmas! YAY!!!!

We have or are baking pear muffins(John's favorite), sugar cookies(Gayle's favorite),

pumpkin cookies with chocolate chips(Lilli's favorite), and a buttermilk pie(my favorite)!!

I think I have talked about the pear muffins on here before! They are so yummy especially warm with butter on them! The sugar cookies are fat and soft and very sugary!!!

The pumpkin cookies are just so sweet smelling and so tasty when iced with cream cheese icing!

I just can't wait until that pie gets done! It tastes just about like cream pie! YAY!

Besides baking like mad I have also been hand sewing and finding some wonderful new blogs! I

can't wait to update my blog roll! There might be one or two that you haven't seen!

PS...the absolute best part of all this baking is we give most of it away!! To neighbors, friends and family!!!!

Hi Everybody!!! I wanted to post way before now but I just didn't get to it!

Anyway, here I am! I missed a post on punctuation day! Darn it! My favorite punctuation mark is the exclamation mark! If you couldn't tell!!!! LOL!! What's your favorite?!

We had a great day out at the park in Greenville, OH last week! Of course, it was so hot we didn't or couldn't do much!! So while we ate our yummy Maid-Rites we spied these little cuties having fun in the dead grass! Yep, everyone's grass is dead! The only thing that grows is the weeds!

Have you ever had a piece of fabric you didn't know what to do with?!! Well, here is one of mine!

I think I bought it about two years ago at Jo-Ann's! It doesn't photograph very well! It is much prettier in person!

Anyway I ran across this.......

No, my dress dummy is skinny! She is permanently skinny! I can't get her to move into my measurements! She is really just for fun anyway! And she is very old! My friend and I traded some things and this is one thing I got!

I saw this post on sewingin-nomansland the other day and decided I had to make this wonderful scarf with a flower on it for Lilli!
Here is a close up of the flower! The center is glass beads that match the scarf and......

here is the whole scarf! It was so easy and fun to make! I think my nieces will have one for Christmas!!!

My niece's birthday was September 6! She said she was getting a camera and needed a bag for it so I made her this gathered clutch with a handle from a tutorial over at noodlehead!
It was so fun and not as hard as I thought it would be! And Chanz'ee loved it!

What a month!

August.....Though it may be the 8th month of the year, it always seems to get here like it's the 2nd month! It's like Christmas, I know it's coming but I'm never ready! Do you know what I mean?

The month started with company from Tennessee! They just came for an evening! They were staying with my nephew! It was fun to see them and their children! For boys they are the most well behaved little boys I've seen in along time!

Then came company from Florida! It was so much fun! My Aunt Barb and Uncle Blackie!

We haven't seen them for 2 years! We went places, we ate lots of food(and ice cream, Uncle Blackie's favorite!) and just spent lots of time with them!
Then came August 17 and it was time for Gayle's birthday! Our sweet Gayle turned 29!
It is so hard to believe! 29!!! Lisa(from spoonfulofsugar) and I were joking that it is so hard to believe our children can be so old when we are so young!

And now it's today, August 29! We now officially have another teenager in the house!

How can that be? Wasn't Lilli just born yesterday? She's so sweet, smart, and my best friend!

Here they are! My babies now making me feel really sad, happy, old, young all at the same time!

I love you both more than I can say!

It is slow going but we are going to really try!

By now we all know it is summer! The weather has been so hot and humid that it has been unbearable! So it's inside for us for sure! Saturday we made strawberry jam! It is so yummy!

It was my first time without my mom or John's mom! Lilli and I jumped in with both feet and we think we did pretty good! I gave some to my dad for his birthday and to my best friend for her birthday!!!!

I doubt I have to tell ya that I am not an experienced quilter, I can sew but until now I haven't really been able to make something pieced! Then I was visiting Vickie's blog the other day and she had this wonderful tutorial posted for a pinwheel runner. I read it and thought surely I can make this! At least I had to try and look what I ended up with!

This one is for my mom! I haven't finished her's but I will before the 4th!

This is both of them!

This is mine! I just have to hand sew the binding on the back and sew my button on!

This has been quite the journey! I have learned alot! Mainly that my Janome(Sew Precise)

not the most expensive machine on the block had a walking foot and I learned how to use it!

Lilli gets on me every time I say oh I wish I could make that! Mom you will never know until you try!

Can I just say that I am so proud of myself and so is Lilli! Thanks Lilli for that extra push! My first two pieces my not be perfect but for a beginner I think they have turned out pretty well! Thanks so much to Vickie and Connecting Threads on youtube for the bias tape tutorial video!

Hi there! I hope everyone out there is good! We are!

Well, I tell ya I have found it so hard to sit and just post but here I am!

I have so enjoyed spring and all the newness it brings! The only thing I don't like is the

storms.

Anyway, on with my new things!

Momma Robin had 4 babies that are out amoung the trees now! It was so fun to go out everyday and watch them grow up and then to watch Momma teach them how to fly! Mother Nature is great and very inspiring!
This chicken was in the sewing stuff that my neighbor man gave me when his parents had passed. His mother was very talented! I wish I could have known her better. A couple of years ago I drew up a pattern to make me one but I never really got inspired until.....

this lovely little book showed up in my mailbox! Do you have this book it is so sweet and yes inspiring!!!! So I got busy making............

these chickens! Yes, you might say I got carried away, but I do think they are so cute!

I turned a grapevine wreath into a pull toy with wooden spools for the wheels this way whatever chicken is in season will have a special seat!

Oh My Gosh it's MAY!!!!

Oh my gosh! It's May! I am so behind on everything it seems! Easter was here before I knew it! I am serious. I thought I had a whole week to work on presents but in reality I only had two days... yes two days! Wow did I have to hurry and make cards and make presents! I am happy to say that everyone got something homemade and with a homemade card, too! YAY!!! The sad thing is, I had to make stuff and then wrap it right away. I forgot to take pictures. I can't believe it! I will do better next holiday...I hope!!!!
I am so far behind on blogging that I am not even going to try to catch up. I did remember to take a picture of my Taco Pizza!! If you have followed me here for very long you know that pizza is one of my very favorite things! I mean it! I could it pizza everyday!!! Any kind! I also love Taco Bell! We decided to try our hand at a Taco Pizza!!! It was so yummy! We added some sour cream, shredded cheese and salsa before we ate it!

I made this purse for me today! Can you believe it?!
I made it because I bought a new pair of.....

Glasses! The lady there said to tell John I needed a new wardrobe! I did tell him and he said okay! I had to have a new purse so that's where I started!

Don't you think they match?!!!! Almost tooo good!!!!!

Hi!!! It's me again! I know I am so bad at posting this year but I am going to try to do better!
A while ago I said I was trying to use all of my cookbooks and magazines at least once! Well, here is a recipe from the very first issue of Hometown Cooking, October 1999! I loved that magazine! It was put out by Better Homes and Gardens! Anyway, this was our supper last night! I just wish I had made the rolls! This is called Cheesy Vegetable Soup! It has potatoes, carrots, onions, and broccoli in it! It was so yummy and comforting! It made a great late winter evening meal!

Our trees are budding and flowers are popping up through the ground! It will soon be time to start the garden! I can't wait! Last year we didn't get to plant the garden since Gayle wasn't well and John got hurt. We are looking sooo forward to homemade salsa!!!

I am so excited that it is March Madness! I can't wait to print the brackets and pick my teams!
Lilli and I are going to see who can pick the most winners! There is never anything scientific to our picking method! We may like the name or the school colors or the state they come from!
You never know it just maybe the best way to fill out the brackets! LOL!

I have been making things! YAY!! I can't wait to post them! I have also been trying to get organized! I say the time goes so fast we will be thinking about Christmas again! With that said I best get back to my day! We lost an hour yesterday so that makes the day go even faster!
I am definitely not for changing the time especially for the reason the governor gave to us.....so the golfers have more daylight time on the course! I guess it would be great if I played, huh?!!!

The UPS stopped by today and...........

I am a blessed girl!!!
Today I was getting ready to leave to take the kitten to the vet, when what did I see in my drive way.....yes you guessed it the UPS truck! Don't you love that big brown truck?!! I'm thinking on my way out the door I must have ordered something and forgot about it! Well, come to find out I hadn't forgotten anything it was a sweet little box from TIFFANY & CO!!! I was like oh my gosh I can't believe this is for me! I double checked the name and address and sure enough it was for me! Isn't it pretty?! I love the color of the box! The white ribbon sets it off, don't you think?!!! What a sweet little card!

I am so sorry that my camera didn't want to focus just right! This is without the ribbon!

This is what was inside the box! Again with that green and white and of course TIFFANY & CO on the bag! Love it!

Again, sorry about the quality of the picture, but this is what was inside! A sterling silver key chain! Is that not beautiful?!!!
I know what you must be asking, who is this from?!!!! It is from a very nice girl, Sheryl, I met through a dish towel exchange on mixingbowl.com! She said the towels I sent were too much and that she was going to send me something from where she works, which is TIFFANY & CO and I wrote back and said you don't have to because the towels you sent were wonderful! They were too! Embroidered Christmas towels which I love and really thick burgundy and burgundy and white towels that are great!
So I say from the bottom of my heart thank you so much Sheryl for this absolutely wonderful gift! You have truly made my day!!!

It's me again! I know you are all probably in shock that I am back so soon but I didn't want to be late with my good wishes for the day!
Do you ever have a lot of these plastic containers and don't know what to do with them!
Well, I had an idea right before Christmas(to late for Christmas) to use them for gift boxes!
So with a little paper and glue I came up with these really cute Valentine boxes!

Just right for this little bunch of goodies!
I love to make Valentine presents and all that goes with it! It is so amazing how a little box of goodies makes a person's day!

These yummy Holiday Cheesecake Bars are tucked under those wonderful cutout cookies!

Since John worked today this was our lunch!

It's been a long time......

Okay....either I am all confused after such a long time to post or blogger is!
It's probably me!!!
Anyway, it's been almost 2 months since I was here last. Ugh!!!
I am not even gonna try to fill you in on everything but here goes!
I believe the last time I posted I was ranting about the Colts!!! Well, I'm still upset about the 2 game loss but what can I say! So after that post they played a playoff game and won! YAY! So I thought I best not post! So then they won another playoff game and I knew I shouldn't post!
I was ecstatic! We are going to play in the Super Bowl! WooHoo!
In between times the Pro Bowl was played and my team won, however I was just a little upset that they changed it this year! How can you have viewer voted players not play because they are in the Super Bowl! I understand they can't take a chance and get hurt, but why do you get to vote and then not get to watch those players play?!! I say if you are going to change when they are going to play then they should change the voting!!! Oh well, whatever! I'll have to get over that as well! So we endure a weeks worth of hoopla until the Super Bowl which is okay I guess! Then comes the big day! I mean I am so excited I can't stand it! All day coverage from an Indianapolis channel, what more can you ask for except of course for a Colts win!!! Well, we all know by now that didn't happen. I am True Blue for sure and if they couldn't win then the Saints were a great team to beat them! Their problems being what they have been for the last 5 years and what can you say about Drew Brees? He is a great quarter back(not the greatest) but still great and what a humanitarian! Wow! Okay, I am not an expert on football or how this play should go or not go, but I just want to say that that onside kick (great call or not), some actual experts are saying that it was great because it worked, had it not worked it would have been a really stupid call for the Saints to make, but I say isn't that what it's all(not just football but life itself) about. Sorry I was side tracked anyway that onside kick really shocked the Colts(and their fans) until they couldn't recover. Some say the coach was simply out coached and some say the Colts were simply not 100% but I actually think that it was a little of everything but that onside kick is what turned the game around! So here's to next season and hoping the Colts are just as great if not greater! Congratulations to the Saints!!

We have had lots of snow! Lilli has posted about over at thebuttonboxgirls !
We have had lots of fun! We played and made snow angels and rolled down the drifts! We had our own hills thanks to the wind!

Since we can't get out we have been cooking and baking! Do I have some pictures for you, but I will post that another day! This post is getting rather long!
Here is just one photo for you! John's birthday was February 8 and this was definitely food for a great celebration!!!
This is Cheesy Cavatelli! There is only one word to describe this wonderful dish! DELICIOUS!!!
We had leftovers and when you open the refrigerator door it actually, we decided, smelled better than any restaurant!!! The recipe came from MixingBowl.com! I have written about this site before! It's great! Later I will share the other things I have made from there!

With this I am off to bake cookies! There is nothing like hot chocolate and homemade cookies when it is freezing cold out side and you are snowed in! I have actually been in since Sunday which I love! I am a homebody for sure!!!

Well, I'm gonna have to start the new year out without pictures because I can't find them! Ugh...
Anyway, I hope everyone had a great Christmas! We did!

I am so far behind on my blog that I can't even believe it. I have made so many things and taken pictures but I simply don't know what they are under and not even sure they were put on my computer! If I ever find them, I will share, promise!
We had so much fun in December! Lilli and I decided to pick someone we thought needed a pick me up and we took her a gift everyday of Advent! I don't know who enjoyed it more us or her! We hope to pick someone else this Christmas and do the same!!!
We received the greatest gift of all on Christmas Eve! All of Gayle's tests came back clear!
There is no melanoma! We are so very thankful!

On Christmas Day, John's parents and brother came out and did my mother-in-law have a huge surprise for me! She gave John her engagement ring and her mother-in-law's wedding band to give to me! We all cried! I was very touched!
On Saturday after Christmas we went to my parents' home and had a great time!
John had to work on New Year's Eve so our excitement was limited to home but I couldn't have asked for a better time! We all had a great celebration!
Now I can't say enough about football!
I don't ever say much on here about it but I love it! Really I do! So I was for Penn State, they won! I was for Ohio State, they won! And I was for Florida State and they won! Wow! What more could a girl ask for?! This girl is gonna ask for one more win this weekend from the Colts! Who knows?! Especially since they didn't really play to win last week! I wonder how the other team will think back on the win....we beat the undefeated Colts without their starters!!! I know the Colts want their starters to be healthy but ....I'm just sayin' whoever heard of not playing to win...Duh!!! Whoever heard of putting in the backups for the first time all season thinking they possibly could win but probably not. I say play them some all year...oh but wait the Colts weren't really that far ahead in any game they have won and they had to win until they were sure they won their division! Okay, sorry for the rant! I will always be for the Colts since they are my home team but I have some other favorites out there just in case the Colts don't make it to the Super Bowl!!!! So for now Go Colts!!!
